Hellena Taylor, a voice actress known for bringing Bayonetta to life, questioned her appearance in Bayonetta 3 for months. Some time later, it was confirmed that the beloved character will have a new voice thanks to Jennifer Hale. PlatinumGames explained that this adjustment was due to “several circumstances that came together”, without delving into the subject.

Now Taylor has decided to break the silence and post a video explaining what really happened. The actress revealed that the developers offered her an “insulting” payment for her work despite the fact that the franchise has generated millions of dollars.

She stated that she has worked hard for all these years to play Bayonetta, so the treatment she received seems unfair to her. For this reason, she asked players to boycott the game’s release to send a clear message to PlatinumGames.

Bayonetta’s original voice lashes out at Platinum and the new installment

According to the details, Taylor was offered a mere $4,000 USD to reprise her role as Bayonetta in the third game. She found this insulting considering all of her previous work and the fact that the saga “made $450 million” without taking merchandise sales into account, according to the voice actress.

“As an actress, I trained for 7 1/2 years: 3 years at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts with voice coach Barbara Berkery and 4 1/2 years with the legendary Larry Moss in Los Angeles. And how much did they think this was worth? What did they offer me to pay me? The final offer to do the entire game, as a buyout, flat fee, was $4,000,” Taylor said.

Later, he invited fans of the franchise to boycott the launch of the new game and invest that money in a good cause. She emphasized that the only thing she was looking for was fair pay for all the effort she has made during her career, but in the end she was more than disappointed.

“This is an insult to me, the amount of time it took me to work on my talent and all that I have given to this game and to the fans. I ask fans to boycott this game and instead spend the money they would have spent on this game and donate it to charity. I didn’t want the world, I didn’t ask for too much. He was just asking for a decent living wage. What they did was legal, but it was immoral,” the actress concluded.
