SuperGeek in San Francisco.- With the advancement of technology and especially with the massification of high-speed internet, it is increasingly common to hear concepts such as “ecosystems” which is what the different companies refer to to offer a round experience if we use the devices of the same brand.
But that progress has started to add more components in addition to a tablet, a smartphone and a smart watch, since now it is possible that one of them can handle several more that help promote the concept of smart home or smart life. Well, the next step, and otherwise logical, was to put both options together and for the universe to expand just as Marvel did in its movies. And the example is not long as someone could consider, since what Samsung proposes is that everyone use its connectivity proposal that is known as SmartThings.
What this renewed technology allows is host in your own data cloud the possibility of connecting all kinds of smart devices (with internet connection and some AI) to make them work harmoniously and ultimately make life easier. And note that now this “leader” does not necessarily have to be the smartphone but can even fall on the television.
For example, sitting in front of the television and only with the remote control we can turn on the lightsoperate the air conditioner, order the vacuum cleaner to clean some other room or even instruct our washing machine to deliver completely dry clothes to us while we finish watching a movie.
What if we add to that that the oven is cooking lunch? You can, and all through this SmartThings that is capable of sufficiently facilitating a series of actions that perhaps now makes us invest a lower amount of time, which we can take advantage of in something else. Then, the cleaning, the food and the security are solved at once.
But surely they will think that for something this fantastic to work you must have all the devices of the same brand, but the truth is that this is already behind us and there are many brands of devices that are already compatible to join and work harmoniously with each other.
And that is precisely the step that Samsung proposes with SmartThings; not leaving it as a closed ecosystemwhich would be logical considering that more than 240 million people already have a registration on this platformbut the truth is that the idea is that more brands join this, even those that one might think are rivals.
Surely the most knowledgeable or fanatical of technology have heard something like this before, but believe me that seeing it working is completely different and amazing and with the advancement of internet speed, both 5G and fiber optics, this will increase exponentiallywhich will make more brands want to join and that will push this technology to stop being exclusive only for a few.
