I ordered my Aqua Sphere Stationary Swimmer yesterday, it arrived today and I just finished using it in our backyard above ground pool. It worked great. I threaded it through the skimmer and around a post on the deck. I was using it within 5 minutes of opening the package, it was that easy. I could swim freestyle, backstroke, breastroke and butterfly with it. I know that it takes me 15 or so strokes to swim the length of a 25 yard pool, so that’s how I judged how many “laps” I was swimming. I was skeptical of the product because the price was so reasonable, but it works great and was well worth the money. I like it better than the stationary trainer I had in the past that used a belt around the waist. It’s certainly compact enough that I’ll be able to take it on vacation. My younger son used it and it was a great way to help him with stroke technique.

    A common problem, solved!, July 28, 2007

Residential swimming pools are wonderful to have, but terrible to swim in. They are far too short. I can swim across my swimming pool in about six strokes, so for me swimming was more of an exercise in making myself dizzy.

My brother had purchased this product from a local pool store and recommended it to me, and I’m glad he did. Velcro straps go around your ankles and foot, and they’re attached to an elastic cord. You can attach the cord to anything; I thread it through my pool skimmer, which everyone has in their pool. I haven’t felt as though the ankle straps interfere with my kicking.

Everyone knows swimming is a great form of exercise, and it’s nice to be able to exercise at home where I’m in charge of the chlorine levels (gyms are notoriously overzealous with chlorine).

Let me start by saying that this is one of those things that uses simple engineering for a tremendous benefit.
    I love this device!
Any pool can become the ultimate lap pool. You don’t have to be concerned about hitting a wall, swimming around other people, or turning around after 15 strokes because you’re in a condo pool.
In fact, recently when I had this big beautiful pool all to myself, I still preferred to use the device as it’s a more efficient workout.
You can get into a zone and you’ll be amazed how fast 30 or 40 minutes goes by. Also, you’ll find yourself experimenting with different kicking and stretching techniques as you workout.
I highly recommend you get this if you want to do laps anywhere.
You can think of it as a swimmers treadmill.

Now, here’s what needs to be improved.
1-The Velcro used will become defective relatively soon, and the bands will start to open up while you workout. This started with me after the 8th time I used it. I plan to sew better velcro over the existing material. My cousin simply uses other velcro bands over the existing straps for the same remedy.
2-The clips on the ankle attachments (which clip onto the cord) should be mounted on a little longer strap which can reach away from being directly under foot. This is so if you need to walk at all your not stepping on the clip. A small piece of velcro should do well to keep the clip out of the way and secure while walking a few feet to and from the pool.

these are easy fixes, a minor annoyance that shouldn’t discourage anyone from getting this.
Aquasphere, if your reading this, these are good ideas that you need to address… especially the cheap velcro.
And thank you for this device, it opens a new world of swimming opportunities.

    Cheers

Still love it and going strong.
the second improvement I suggested earlier isn’t necessary. Simply slip the clip between and above your toes and problem solved.
You’ll understand what I’m talking about when you put them on.
