Aqua Sphere K-180 Clear Lens Goggles

The innovative construction of the K180 swim goggle combines three different materials resulting in the most comfortable and stable swim goggle ever. The best optic technopolymers have been used for UV protection and anti-fog lenses. Ultra-soft TPR (Thermo Plastic Rubber) guarantees perfect stability in the eye socket and a comfortable, water tight fit. Curved lenses, designed according to Aqua Sphere’s 180° Seal technology, give a wider field of vision. Additionally, the streamlined shape reduces vortices and enhances hydrodynamics. K180 is very easy to wear thanks to three different sizes of the nose bridge and the easy to adjust head buckles. K180 has ultra-soft gasket for maximum comfort

I swim laps 2-3 days a week for about 45 minutes in an indoor lap pool. I had previously only worn speedo goggles sold at Costco that come three pair to a pack. They were okay at first but became uncomfortable as I wore them in and they started leaking. This took about 4 months. In order to keep swimming I knew I needed to invest in some good swim goggles. I did quite a bit of research online and read a lot of Amazon reviews. I heard a lot of good things about the aquasphere brand but wasn’t sure what profile I wanted. I ordered two different profiles, one larger like the Kaiman/Kayenne and a smaller profile like the K180. I am very happy with both profiles. I actually ordered the K180 and the K180+ (which is exactly the same but a tad smaller for women). I have only worn the K-180 so far and I really like them. They are comfortable and fit close around the eye socket but not so close like the really tiny competative ones. The nose bridge comes in three different sizes and the medium nose bridge works for me and I have somewhat close set eyes. These glasses don’t leak and they don’t fog up. Some days I prefer the smaller profile of these glasses over the larger Kaiman/Kayenne and I hardly know I have them on. They adjust in the back with pull tabs which works fine and is very user friendly. I might mention that for people who have trouble with leaky glasses I have found that if you put dry glasses on a dry face and then don’t move them around once you’ve made the seal, you are good to go. If you start messing with them you have problems. I took mine off mid-swim the other day but I dried my face with a towel and they sealed back fine. If you find a pair of swim goggles that you really like I highly recommend that you buy two pair as models change quickly. I also priced these at Sports Authority and Dicks Sporting Goods and they were double the price. These are great quality and won’t wear out quickly and the have a professional look to them.

I wanted to love Aqua Sphere goggles. They look good, they have super soft gaskets, and they come from Italy, where everything is better by default. However, after trying several other models, none really fit. Then the K-180 arrived. The lenses are exceptionally clear, the gaskets are soft and insanely comfortable, and the strap is great. It is really amazing how much better these are.

Also, Aqua Sphere recommends that you not tighten the strap too much as it will flatten out the gasket. So you actually have a more comfortable, looser goggle that is still as well sealed. My K-180s have spent several miles in both the pool and the ocean, and performed exceptionally well. And no latent soreness or “raccoon eyes” after the swim.

However, the one thing they don’t remedy is my own clumsiness, so if you pick up my K-180s that I dropped leaving the water at San Francisco’s Aquatic Park Swimming area, please enjoy them.

I used these goggles for swimming laps. I swim about 80 lengths at a time and need goggles that stay on my face, don’t leak and aren’t uncomfortably tight. I do not like to have to fuss with my swim equipment. These goggles needed to be uncomfortably tight so as not to leak. That said, if you’re not swimming at endurance levels, these may be okay for you. Also, the fit depends on the size and shape of your head. Again, these goggles may fit you better than they did me. A little lesson that I learned… I’ll probably be more likely to buy them at a brick and mortar store so that I ensure a good fit before purchase.
